Buckinghamshire Healthcare Trust (who own the car park at Thame Health Centre) are introducing charges on MONDAY 14TH OCTOBER. The Rycote Practice has negotiated that the first hour will remain free but you will need to pay after this. Please note that this decision had NOT been made by The Rycote Practice and we will receive no parking funds resulting from this decision.

The Rycote Practice will be closed from 1pm on Tuesday 15th October for essential staff training. We apologise in advance for any inconvenience.

Text Message Reminders


mobile phoneYou can now register to receive information by text message on your phone regarding appointments and health care. 

If you wish to register for this messaging service please fill out the text messaging consent form and return to us; it will then be scanned onto your notes as a record of your permission.  You can also give permission to receive text messages on behalf of your child if you are their parent or legal guardian.  Please note, however, that when your child reaches the age of 12, we will need to seek permission from your child.

It is your responsibility to ensure that you keep us updated if your mobile phone number changes.  Once you have signed a consent form, the practice will continue to send text messages to the mobile telephone number that you have provided until you inform us that it has changed.  If you have online access you can easily update your contact information without needing to come to the surgery.  Please ask if you are interested in an online account.


How does it work?

Book an appointment in the normal way - by phone, online or in person at the reception desk.  48 hours before your appointment we will automatically create a text message with the details of the forthcoming appointment and send it to the mobile number you have given us.  If you have booked an appointment less than 48 hours ahead, you will receive text confirmation immediately.  You will receive reminders for all appointments that involve seeing a doctor or nurse at the practice.  You will not receive reminders about telephone calls.


In the Future

The practice will consider expanding this service to help manage other aspects of your care.  This might include: medication review reminders; flu clinic reminders; confirmation of results; reminders to book annual health checks; immunisation reminders.  This list is not exhaustive.  We will provide patients with further information on additional text messaging services as they are developed.
